Hawaii 5-0! Birthday Bash
This summer Katherine, her husband Don, and her two
lifelong friends, Jim and John Hansen, headed to Hawaii for a
celebration of our 50th birthdays. Don turned 50 in June while
Katherine, Jim and John all hit the big milestone in September.
Every decade, our foursome plans a special milestone celebration and
this time we decided to celebrate our 50th birthday with a trip to
the Big Island of Hawaii. We kicked off our birthday
festivities with a Hawaii luau. Our adventures included
visiting the Hawaiian Volcano's National Park, Mauna Kea
Observatory, snorkeling, and even a few Mai Tais. Check out
the photos of our
Hawaii adventure. Aloha!
In the Press:
Katherine has been invited to submit her paper, "Lessons Learned
from the Field: Key Strategies for Implementing Successful
On-The-Bill Financing Programs," for publication in a new
journal next year. This paper, which will be based on the work
she presented at the IEPEC Paris 2010 Conference, highlights the
strategies used by Midwest Energy and Hawaiian Electric Company to
implement on-bill financing programs. Stefan Thomas (Wuppertal
Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy) and Ed Vine
(California Institute for Energy Environment) are co-editors of a
Special Issue on Evaluation which will be published next year in the
journal Energy Efficiency.
